Child Protection Policy

Policy Statement

“We at Kendal School of Gymnastics are committed to practices that protect children from harm. Coaches, committee members and volunteers in this organisation recognise and accept our responsibilities to develop the awareness of the issues that may cause children harm.”

Definition
For the purposes of these policies and procedures children are any person under the age of 18 years, or those whom are considered vulnerable.

We will endeavour to promote the highest standards of care for all members, staff and officials by: -

1. Adopting child protection policies and guidelines through a code of behaviour for coaches, committee members and volunteers based on the recommendations of the British Gymnastics Association and ensuring that they are implemented.

2. Sharing information about concerns with agencies who need to know, and involving parents, carers and children appropriately.

3. Ensuring that the Criminal Record Bureau, in accordance with their guidelines, checks all coaches, committee members and volunteers with responsibility for children.

4. Making all new coaches, committee members and volunteers aware of our child protection, health and safety, and equity procedures and policies.

5. Ensuring all coaches, committee members and volunteers with responsibility for children attend appropriate child protection courses.

6. Appointing a designated person to enable any concerns to be reported and dealt with in accordance with our procedures.

7. Reviewing our policy and practice at regular intervals.
