Head Coach

Chris

Chris

“I have been coaching at the club for over 20 years and have been Head Coach since 2011. I started when 2 of my daughters took up the sport and, in this time I have become a qualified Level 4 Women’s Artistic Coach, a level 3 General Gymnastics Coach and a level 3 Freestyle coach. I am also a Club Judge and judge at County and Regional competitions and have managed to wangle my way onto the Cumbria Gymnastics Association committee as Vice-Chairman. I coach all levels from our beginners to the advanced group and enjoy watching all our gymnasts perform some amazing skills and just having fun together. Although I was never a gymnast myself, if pushed I can perform an incredibly basic bar routine and have been known to do a handspring vault.”

Level 3's

Joanne

“I have been coaching at Kendal Gymnastics Club since 2003. I am a qualified Level 2 coach in Women's Artistic Gymnastics and have attended Level 3 modules. I am also a Level 3 in General Gymnastics. I have a Regional Judge qualification and regularly Judge at Regional and National Competitions. I coach the advanced group on a Monday, Wednesday evening and run the Recreation Classes on Sundays. Along with Abigail I help to choreograph and polish routines for competition in our 'Sparkle' sessions. I have always had a passion for gymnastics since I was a young gymnast myself at this club.  I am also the Chair of the club.

My favourite pieces to coach are the floor and beam because I like the artistic elements required to perform the routines.”

“I am a Qualified Level 2 Women's Artistic Gymnastics coach, safeguarding, child protection and first aid trained. I Coach all ages from pre school to oldies. Mainly at the moment the club tinys, and the Tuesday Thursday 10 - 12's (team Vics) who clearly are the best! But I do enjoy coaching any of the groups as they are all great hardworking children. I really enjoy watching the children develop their skills working hard to accomplish things they never thought they would. Lessons they can use for life. But I must say, I also quite like it when they win big shiny medals!”

“I have been involved at Kendal Gymnastics Club since I was 8 years old when I started as a gymnast. After retiring, I went into coaching and I am currently a Level 2 Women’s Artistic coach. I coach on a Wednesday evening in both floor and Vault and advanced groups, and spend some Sundays choreographing and polishing floor routines alongside Joanne. I am also a qualified Club Judge and enjoy judging at regional competitions.

My favourite things to coach are the floor and beam, as you are coaching not only moves, but artistry as well.”
